We are working with an established organisation within the building compliance sector looking to appoint an experienced Director of BRPD to take strategic ownership of their Building Regulations & Compliance offering.
This is a senior leadership position, responsible for driving the continued development and growth of the BRPD function, providing technical leadership, maintaining high standards of compliance and acting as a senior point of contact for key clients and stakeholders.
The role would suit an established Building Regulations / Building Control professional with significant technical and commercial experience, who is looking to take ownership of a growing consultancy function and play a key role in shaping its future direction.
The Role
- Take strategic and operational responsibility for the organisation’s BRPD / Building Regulations consultancy function
- Provide senior technical leadership across a varied portfolio of Non-Higher Risk Building projects
- Set and maintain high standards of technical quality, compliance and professional practice
- Act as a senior technical advisor to clients, design teams and project stakeholders
- Oversee the review and assessment of plans, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Provide strategic guidance on complex Building Regulations and compliance matters
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, consultants, designers and other industry stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to develop and grow the BRPD service offering
- Support business development activity, tenders and the development of new client relationships
- Lead, mentor and develop technical teams as the function continues to grow
- Establish and continually improve internal processes, technical procedures and quality standards
- Keep the organisation informed of relevant changes to Building Regulations, legislation and industry requirements
- Represent the business at a senior level across the wider building compliance sector
You’ll ideally have:
- Extensive experience within Building Control, Building Regulations consultancy, Building Surveying, Architecture or a closely related discipline
- Strong and demonstrable knowledge of UK Building Regulations and associated legislation
- Significant experience operating at a senior management, technical leadership or director level
- A strong understanding of technical design, construction and compliance across a range of project types
- Experience dealing with complex projects, clients and senior stakeholders
- A proven ability to develop and maintain strong commercial and client relationships
- Experience leading, mentoring or developing technical professionals
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how to develop and grow a consultancy service
- Excellent communication, leadership and decision-making skills
- A relevant professional qualification or degree in Building Surveying, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Control or a related discipline
