Registered Building Inspector (RBI) – Contractor

📍 Location: Cumbria (Hybrid – Remote with Site Visits)
💰 Pay Rate: £50–£60 per hour (Outside IR35 available)
🕒 Hours: 37 hours per week
⏳ Contract Length: 3-6 month initial rolling contract (very high likely hood to run long term)

We are currently seeking two experienced Registered Building Inspectors (RBIs) to support a busy and progressive Building Control service in Cumbria. This is a contract opportunity, ideal for professionals looking for flexibility, steady contract work, and the chance to work across a wide variety of domestic and non-domestic projects.

• Hybrid working: Remote-based with site visits and occasional office attendance

• Varied caseload including residential, commercial, and enforcement work
• Be part of a well-supported and professional Building Control team

🔍 Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of domestic and non-domestic Building Control applications
• Assess plans and conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Act 1984
• Respond to reports of dangerous structures and demolitions, taking enforcement action where necessary
• Prepare reports and documentation to support legal and regulatory enforcement
• Provide clear technical advice and work independently with minimal supervision

🎓 Requirements:

• Registered Building Inspector (RBI) – class 2A+ (more complex domestic and commercial work available for higher RBI grades)
• In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and construction best practices
• Full UK driving licence and own transport for site visits
