Confido Consult

Position: Building Safety Consultant (Consultant to Associate / Director Level)
Location: Manchester
A leading construction consultancy is newly seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor to join their in-house Building Safety department, preferably based in the North West. You will be leveraging your Building Control expertise, delivering Principal Designer services (as part of the Building Safety Act changes) to help duty holders ensure building regulation compliance in a wide variety of project complexities.
With an established Building Safety service currently led by Building Control HRB (higher-risk buildings) experts, this business is renowned for their involvement in some of the UK’s most high-profile projects on behalf of Tier 1 designers and contractors (projects include multiple over 70 storeys, £1bn+ schemes, airports, football stadia, prisons etc.).
Their focus is not just on achieving compliance but on offering solutions and moving into best practice, positioning themselves as a ‘boutique advisor’ that adds substantial long-term value to Tier 1 clients.
The Role
This opportunity is for individuals at varying levels, from Building Safety Surveyor to Associate Director, with routes to Director where applicable, to join a dynamic and supportive team (suited to Building Control Surveyor’s with 5+ years’ experience).
At Building Safety Surveyor level, you will be adding valuable building regulations expertise and enhancing the team’s delivery capacity. The role isn’t just about project delivery though; you will also be working closely with existing clients to implement compliance processes and develop a seamless strategy.
Although you will have the rare opportunity to make a positive impact on some real landmark projects, the role isn’t just suited to those with HRB experience. If you have a good foundation in a variety of project types, what you may lack in HRB experience can certainly be made up for in attitude and an eagerness to learn (high-level training & support on offer). This is a people driven business that has built its success in employing the right characters over ‘hit the ground running’ technical excellence, creating a unique opportunity to gain exposure in the type of projects that can take decades in a traditional Building Control environment.
Your time will not be absorbed by small domestic projects, and you will not be performing a regulatory role, allowing you the freedom to focus on value added tasks to positively influence both your clients and your career.
Key Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with major architects and Tier 1 contractors to ensure Building Regulations and legislation compliance.
· Provide strategic compliance advice and support throughout all stages of project delivery.
· Implement strategic compliance processes and help develop quality assurance systems.
· Alongside existing Building Safety leads, sit in on client meetings as a crucial member of their design team.
· Contribute to the growth and development of the in-house department by mentoring junior team members.
Person Specification:
· Foundation knowledge and commercial project exposure in Building Control Surveying.
· Confident, self-motivated, ambitious, and proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and uphold the company’s values.
· Full or partial membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE, or CIOB (preferred but not essential).
· Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive client relationships.
Benefits:
· Highly competitive salary
· Enhanced Annual Leave
· Birthday off & Christmas shutdown for free
· Private healthcare
· Enhanced pension scheme
· Flexible working hours – no 9-5!
· Hybrid working
· High-quality training and career development opportunities
· Regular social events
· Family-friendly policies (including pet & children friendly offices)
· Opportunities for charity involvement and volunteer programs
· Regularly reviewed benefits (in process currently)
