This is a unique opportunity for a Trainee or Assistant Building Control Surveyor to join a thriving team in the South West. While prior Building Control experience is an advantage (more experienced Surveyors also welcome to apply & remunerated accordingly), the employer is open to individuals making a transition from similar roles such as Site Management & Clerk of Works.

Suitable candidates will be based anywhere within Devon and Cornwall as you will be remote based with Team ‘get togethers’ when suitable.

The team currently work on a broad spectrum of both Commercial & Domestic projects, with a growing reputation as the leaving Building Control providers in the area. Due to growing demand to service Domestic clients, the opportunity for someone to take a lead on Domestic projects has now been created (with the opportunity to work on Commercial if of interest).

Regardless of your location within the South West, you will be given the tools and guidance to take a lead on Domestic projects both in existing locations and local to home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take charge of Domestic building control work.

• Undertaking plan checks & site inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations.

• Engage with builders and architects to build and maintain strong professional relationships.

• Collaborate with clients to ensure compliance with building regulations.

• Attend design and client meetings to provide valuable input throughout a build.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must have minimum HNC qualification (or similar).

• Preferable but not essential; full or Associate Membership of a relevant professional body such as CABE, RICS or CIOB

• Conversant with the interpretation of building regulations, construction processes, legislation and requirements

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• A proactive attitude and the willingness to learn.
